Information: This cache is located in Johnson Road Park in Germantown, Tennessee. You can reach the park by traveling north on Johnson Road from Poplar Avenue. Once in the park, drive as far as you can to the east and park in lot. From here you will have a walk of several hundred feet to the cache. Most of that walk is along a paved pathway.
If you want to park closer to the cache, you can drive west on Frank Road (which runs east-west through Collierville) until it dead-ends at the park. You will be in a residential neighborhood and will have to park in front of one of the houses. This does considerably reduce the walking distance (depending how far away you park).
Regardless of which of the two ways you initially approach the cache location, you will enter a wooded area as you travel closer to the container. This is part of the frisbee golf course in the park. You will need to watch for frisbee golfers (muggles) and for flying frisbees. People play frisbee golf here at almost any time you can imagine. Because this wooded area is part of the frisbee course, it has been cleared considerably (except for the trees) and this really cannot be considered to be bushwhacking. However, it is very possible to get muddy, touch poison ivy, and/or to walk into thorns if you do not pay attention.
The wooded area contains several ravines which are not very deep but certainly are deep enough to cause injury if you fall into one by accident. Be careful where you walk.
When you reach the point where your GPSr indicates the cache is located, look around. Think in three dimensions. The cache is larger than a plastic 35mm film container and smaller than a decon container. |
